Weekly Photo Challenge : Bogor Botanical Garden

Today we celebrate the 200th birthday of Bogor Botancal Garden which located in West Java, Indonesia. So for this week’s challenge I want to share the pictures of it.

For us, Bogor Botanical Garden is a preciuos Heritage. Before it was established as Botanical Garden on May 18 1817, it had been a part of man made forest of Sunda Kingdom in 15th century. The Dutch East India Company then established a garden and mansion at the site in 1744. The British governor, Thomas Stamford Raffles relandscaped the garden from 1811 to 1816. When Japan invaded our country, this garden was renamed as Shokubutsuen.

This garden covering ab area of 87 hectares, contains 13.983 specimens of trees and plants, and also as a refuge for more than 50 varieties of birds and bats.
