Weekly Photo Challenge : Dayak Long House

This is the picture of Rumah Radakng in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. It is the replica of traditional long house of Dayak tribe, the native people of Kalimanta. Generally, we usually call this house as Rumah Betang/ Rumah Panjang.

Literally, this is truly a long house. It has a length of 138 metres and 7 metres high. It is made of kayu ulin (Bornean ironwood), that’s why we will see many straight
Lines on it, from the tanka (wooden stairs), the pillars, tho house itself, and also the poles decorated with Hornbills.
